Hello Saskatchewan Basketball Players, Coaches & Parents,

Basketball Saskatchewan will once again be running our Canada Basketball Centre for Performance (CP) and the Regional Training Centre (RTC).  Tryouts for these two Elite programs will be in September.  Information is below and attached.  As schools are figuring out their fall schedules we have not confirmed gym space for the tryouts at this time.  Please check our website at www.basketballsask.com for locations and times of the tryouts when they are available.

CP

The 2010/11 Canada Basketball Centre for Performance will be starting up again this Fall with Open Tryouts.  The tryouts will be on the September 11 & 12 weekend with one happening in the North (Saskatoon) and one in the South(Regina). Athletes born in 1993, 1994, 1995 & 1996 will be eligible for this program. A player only needs to go to one of the 1 day regional tryouts.   If there are two sessions on that day players are expected to go to both sessions.

Parents  MUST register their child online for the tryout at our website www.basketballsask.com  The tryout fee is $ 25.  We encourage you register ahead of time so we have an idea of the number of athletes to expect.

A brochure is attached with information on the program.  Information on how to register online is also attached for those not familiar with the process.  This is also available on our website by clicking FAQ’s on the left side of the main page.

RTC

Basketball Saskatchewan Inc.(BSI) is looking continue the success of the 2nd Regional Training Center (RTC) during the 2010-11 year.  This program is modeled after the Center for Performance (CP) program on a smaller scale, and would target athletes younger than the CP age group (athletes born in 1996, 1997 & 1998).  The RTC will look at developing skills  and focus on the following:

- moving without the ball / penetration principles

- shooting

- ballhandling / passing / decision making

- individual on-ball defense

This year BSI is looking to expand the RTC Program.  If numbers allow we will run the program in 4 regions.  Athletes will be asked to register in the region of their choosing. The top female and male athletes ages 12 - 14 will be chosen in each of these regions from the Open Tryout dates listed below.  RTC training sessions will be held in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon.  BSI will conduct approximately 30 hours of training including Sport Science sessions.

RTC AGE GROUP ELIGIBLE FOR CANADA GAMES SHERBROOKE, QC 2013 TEAMS
