SMBA registration for U13 Boys and Girls

All U13 boys and Girls need to register individually online at smba.ca for the spring program. Please see the info below and /or contact your coach if you have any details.Early bird discount if registered prior to Feb 21st!!!!!!

Early Registration Fees Received by February 21, 2011

New Players to the Spring League the fee is $85 (this includes a SMBA reversible)

Players that have a SMBA reversible from a previous Spring League the fee is $65

Fees Received after February 21, 2011

New Players to the Spring League the fee is $110 (this includes a SMBA reversible)

Players that have a SMBA reversible from a previous Spring League the fee is $90  

The SMBA Spring League will start on April 4 and run until June 2, 2010

Player Information

Fees must be paid by February 21, 2011 in order to get the discount. 
No one will be guaranteed a spot after the registration deadline of February 21, 2010

No registration form will be processed without payment.

 
 
  • The SMBA program will run from April 4 until June 2.
  • The objective of this league is for the players to improve on their skills in a non-threatening atmosphere. Please read over the fair play code posted on the web site.
    There shall be no verbal abuse to the officials by anyone; a zero tolerance policy will be adhered to.
     A player that recieves a technical foul must sit a half.
  • Referees will be provided for all games.
  • Teams MUST provide a scorekeeper and a timer for games (usually parents). All fouls and scores must be recorded.
  • Each game will consist of two 25-minute (running time) halves with a 5-minute break. There will be a five minute warm up prior to the game. The clock will not stop at any time.
  •  All players must play equal time. This means that coaches should make changes at around the 5-minute mark, or use time that is convenient to both teams.
  • There will be no handling of the ball in the back court.
  • There will be alternate possessions on all jump ball situations
  • The score clocks will not be used.
  • FIBA rules to be used
  • All games will be played full court on 10 foot rims.
  • No zone defenses
  • Players must agree to follow the SMBA Fair Play Code
  • All players to play equal time.
  • Players must provide their own basketballs for practices and games.
  • Basketball Sizes: Mini will use size 5, Bantam, Midget Girls, and Juvenile Girls use size 6, Midget and Juvenile Boys use size 7

    April 11-14 (one practice and one game)

    April 18-20 (one practice and one Wednesday game- Thursday game to be played later)

    April 25-29 Easter Break

    May 2-5 (one practice and one game)

    May 9-12 (one practice and one game)

    May16-19 (one practice and one game)

    May 24-26 (one practice on Tuesday and Wednesday and one game on Thursday)

    May 30-June2 ( one practice and one game)

There are Boys and Girls Teams For the Following Age Groups:

Grade 4 and 5
Grade 6 and 7
Grade 8 and 9
Grade 10 and 11

The league offers an honorarium for coaching. You can register an entire team (i.e.Your child and his/her friends) and players may be added to the teams to a maximum of 12. Coaches must follow the SMBA Fair Play Code (see the web site) and are responsible to the SMBA. Players will be placed on a team if not registered by an individual coach. High school gyms will be used as much as possible for practices and games. Younger age groups may have to practice at elementary schools. If possible, younger age groups will have the early practice times. Games will be played 5 on 5 with referees.

Players must provide their own basketball.
Basketball Sizes: Mini will use size 5, Bantam, Midget Girls, and Juvenile Girls use size 6, Midget and Juvenile Boys use size 7

Days for Practices and Games

Each team will have Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday sessions

6:00 - 7:15, 7:15 - 8:30, and 8:30 to 9:45.

The league will use FIBA rules with no zones or zone presses and baskets set at 10 feet. The SMBA philosophy for the Spring League is that every player will get equal playing time. Teams must provide their own basketballs.

SMBA Refund Policy:
Prior to the start of the program: Registration fees will be refunded less a $20 Administration Charge. There will be no refund once the program starts.
